The SCHF is pleased to welcome Amir Gwirtzman, an Israeli multi-instrumentalist, as he presents his heart pounding “Inhale-Exhale”
Amir is a master of the saxophone, clarinet, flute, bagpipes and a woodwind section full of African, Asian, European and Middle Eastern instruments. He offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy the sounds of Israel, to share Israeli and Jewish culture and to learn about music from across the globe. His concert features a veritable United Nations of wind instruments. Amir presents jazz, R&B and folk songs as layers of instruments that he records as he plays. He began his solo project, “Inhale-Exhale,”
For the past 10 years, Amir has given workshops regularly for students at U.S. universities and high schools. In 2007, he presented workshops in Thailand as well as two solo concerts in Hanoi, where he collaborated with Vietnam’s most famous jazz musicians. In 2008, Amir performed with ESTA in Vietnam at the Hue Festival of international music and theater and in Thailand for Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In January 2009, ESTA performed as part of Rhythm of the Earth Festival in Thailand.
This performance is made possible through a special opportunity provided by the Goldring/Woodenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life and the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation.
