Homebuyers Beware! Abandoned Heating Oil Tanks Maybe Buried In Point Pleasant N.J.

In the 1970's the greater Point Pleasant, N.J. area was part of a natural gas moratorium that restricted new natural gas installations. At that time property owners either used electric or heating oil as a source for fuel for their furnaces.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 17, 2010 -
After the natural gas moratorium of the 1970's was lifted, homeowners converted to gas often abandoning their heating oil tanks. Some property owners filled their tanks with sand,
removed them or just cut the fill and vent pipe off  leaving a potential environmental mess
behind. Some property owner did nothing and oil tank remeains to this day contaminating the environment.

Environmental Systems (depenvirosystems.com) recomends that all potential homebuyers
have tank scans/location, soil testing and oil tank characterization performed prior to property purchase. OIl tank remediation can exceed $ 30000 and may not be covered by NJDEP grants or Homeowners insurance. The best practice is to identify all environmental
issues prior to purchase.

Environmental Systems is a full service environmental company providing oil tank testing, removal and location services. If a tank is leaking environmental systems can provide cost effective remediation services.

If you have any heating oil tank questions, please call Environmental Systems at 732-892-8707.
