Thrill Planet is proud to support the charity work done by Families of Children Under Stress (FOCUS), a non-profit organization that provides emotional, informational and physical support to families who have a loved one with a lifelong disability or ongoing medical condition. Families of Children Under Stress is holding its 27th annual For the Love of Children fundraiser event on Saturday February 27, 2010 at the Thalia N. Carlos Center in Atlanta. Thrill Planet will be donating a Skydiving Gift Certificate to be sold during the silent auction being held throughout the event. Other amenities include a cash bar, Hors d’oeurves, dinner, dancing and live music from The Hat Cats. The guest of honor, Lane Carlock Howard, will be getting a special introduction from her husband, none other than Clark Howard! Join us for a pleasant evening of eating, dancing, and socializing. By participating in this event, you’re lending your hand to help families suffering from disabilities and severe lifelong medical conditions. If you would like more information about this event or if you’re just looking to volunteer or donate some other way, give the people at FOCUS a call at (770) 234-9111.

When a parent finds out their child is suffering from a lifelong disability or serious medical condition, they frantically research all possible medical options. As their mind floods with multiple questions and concerns, they can become overwhelmed with worry and lose track of where to begin. For most families, unfortunately, there are no easy answers or simple solutions. The only thing worse than watching your child suffer, is the thought that you can’t do anything to stop it. Parents like this need FOCUS, a place that understands and accepts their child and provides links to resources and information. FOCUS offers these services to 3,000 Atlanta families who have children with disabilities or ongoing medical needs. Thrill Planet is pleased to be among the list of FOCUS supporters, who help make these community programs possible. Get involved today by donating or volunteering your time to help a suffering family get the resources, support, and proper care that they need.

Families in the FOCUS network are committed to fighting the debilitating effects of being born with a developmental disorder or serious medical condition. Drawing from the strength and support provided by FOCUS staff and fellow FOCUS members, families learn to deal with a variety of developmental delays, including rare syndromes, cerebral palsy, heart problems, immune deficiencies and neurological complications. FOCUS offers a wide variety of programs such as support groups, hospital visits, summer day camps, Saturday respite care, newsletters, and conferences. Through the charitable contributions of companies like Thrill Planet and from individuals like you, FOCUS is able to create the funds necessary to continue its ever-growing charity work and community outreach programs.

If you’re interested in one of these programs or would like more information on how you can participate, call Families of Children Under Stress today at (770) 234-9111.
