Over the years, Bondi has become tantamount and a bold example of Sydney's beach lifestyle, making it very popular among tourists, residents, and resident tourists. Bondi is a matchless with its great sandy beach as well as its enthralling surf and exciting events organized at the coast every now and than. In comparison to the calm and quite Far East beaches, it is a modern and trendy coastal resort with a lot more freedom to enjoy the tides and sunsets in your own way.
The beach is backed by attractive parkland, where you can relax, play games or take a walk. It is also a popular place amongst rollerblades, skaters and cyclists. There is a fantastic promenade backing the beach, which continues along the coast, around the headland. While, heading towards the northern headland you can also see one of Sydney's Aboriginal sites and also some great Aboriginal rock engravings. Whereas, at the southern headland there is a fabulous coastal walk which takes you past a number of smaller coves until you reach Coogee, which is well worth it. The views are fantastic; especially the sun set is what makes the beach what it is …a magnetic attraction. The walk along the coast is also relaxing and very enjoyable.
Bondi attracts a wide range of admirers from its old Jewish, Italian communities to travelers from round the globe, also Aussie surfers riding the waves make it even more pleasant to just lay back and watch. Due to the large number of annual tourists to the beach, majority of whom are teenagers and youngsters, Bondi is now home to numerous youth hostels with backpackers who congregate mainly in the summer months. It is not uncommon to hear Norwegian, French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish or Spanish while walking across the beach or through the cafes. As far as water sports are concerned, Bondi is just the place. Here, you can learn to surf, which is a must. If you already know a few moves but don't have your own board, then you can hire both surf boards and boogie boards from the small hire shop on the beach. They also offer lockers so you can keep your valuable safe when swimming.
Bondi Beach is very tolerant; you can have ultimate freedom to soar through the waters, or go topless sunbathing, also gay and lesbian couples are welcomed openly. Bondi has a number of cafes and restaurants which look out over the beach and makes a great place to stay and enjoy the marvelous sun set with a coffee’.
