Nashville Family Caregiver Conference Announces Speakers - Free Tickets Still Available

Feb. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Today's Caregiver magazine and Caregiver.com announce that a limited number of free tickets are still available for the Nashville Fearless Caregiver Conference on March 10th, 2010 being held at the Radisson Opryland Hotel. Tickets are sponsored by the Greater Nashville Regional Council.

Speakers to include:
Clay Walker – Multi-platinum selling country music artist. After his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1996, Clay founded the non-profit Band Against MS (BAMS) and has become an outspoken advocate for those living with MS and their caregivers. Clay will receive the Fearless Caregiver Conference’s highest honor, The Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award.

Ernestine Bowers – As the director of the Greater Nashville Regional Council, Area Agency on Aging & Disability since 1997, Ms. Bowers is responsible for the administration and planning of an array of supportive and nutritional services for adults 60 years and older and other persons with physical disabilities in the 13 county area.  

Clara T. Kelly, BSW – Is responsible for the development of programs benefiting caregivers including education, support groups, public speaking and assistance at the Greater Nashville Regional Council, Area Agency on Aging & Disability. Ms. Kelly serves on committees for the Tennessee Respite Coalition, Alzheimer’s Association and the Davidson County Relative Caregiver Program.

Derrell Payne – During his 25-year career with the Social Security Administration, Mr. Payne has been operations supervisor in charge of 15 people responsible for processing of Social Security claims. Mr. Payne is presently the public affairs specialist for the State of Tennessee, and his job entails educating the public about the various Social Security Programs.

Steve Moses – As the president of the Center for Long-Term Care Reform, Mr. Moses spends his time traveling around the country, educating family and professional caregivers on universal access to top-quality long-term care. Prior to holding his current position, Mr. Moses was a senior analyst for the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Mr. Moses is widely recognized as an expert and innovator in the field of long-term care.

Dr. W. Shane Reeves – Co-owner of Reeves-Sain drugstore in Murfreesboro, Dr. Reeves has devoted his career to ensuring that patients, caregivers and medical professionals are well-informed about the numerous healthcare issues we face. While well-rooted in traditional pharmacy methods like medication compounding, he has also been instrumental over the years in introducing his customers and the greater community to a variety of innovations, such as MediPACK prescription management, infusion services, diabetes mail order business and home medical care.

Gary Barg – The event host and moderator. A noted speaker, writer and publisher on caregiving issues since 1995, Gary Barg is founder and editor-in-chief of the first national magazine for caregivers, Today’s Caregiver, as well the original online caregiver community, caregiver.com. This will mark the 93rd Fearless Caregiver Conference that Mr. Barg has hosted.  Gary Barg is the author of the book, The Fearless Caregiver: how to get the best care for your loved one and still have a life of your own.
