Filipino technopreneurs, green ICT companies honored at e-Services Awards 2010

Seven Philippines ICT companies claimed this year’s coveted titles at the e-Services Awards 2010 for their innovation and breakthrough technology and solutions for the year.

Feb. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Seven Philippines ICT companies claimed this year’s coveted titles at the e-Services Awards 2010 for their innovation and breakthrough technology and solutions for the year.

e-Services Awards which started as Best in Products and Services recognition in 2001 is now a country recognition given to homegrown companies for their creative products and services, and is given yearly by the Department of Trade and Industry through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).

An anticipated event in the 10th e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition, the e-Services Awards have become a benchmark of excellence among companies across the Philippine ICT sector.

This year’s judges include Frank Sirianni, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Fordham University; Michelle Sanchez, Consul Commercial of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (Sydney); and Red Samar, Vice President of Cyberpress.

Outstanding Client Application of the Year - Software Development
Global Video Telephony with Multimedia Streaming Capability by Next IX, Inc.

The Global Video Telephony with Multimedia Streaming Capability is a global video telephony implementation that connects Overseas Filipino Workers and their families through high quality videoconferencing. This product server also overcomes the shortcomings of the default Asterisk implementation by supporting high-quality video, optimizing call and codec negotiations, and adding media streaming capabilities.

NEXT IX, Inc., a company that specializes in universally available information and technology solutions for consumers and SMEs, has also won last year’s Outstanding Consumer Application of the Year for their INF Dictation Capture System (INF-DCS), which is based on an open standard communication system built especially for the transcription industry’s unique outsourcing needs, making customization easy and inexpensive.

Unified City-Wide Telecommunications by Next IX, Inc.

Jan-Jan the Jeepney by Anino Games

According to Pie Valencia, Business Development Manager of Anino Games Inc., the "Jan-Jan the Jeepney" is an educational PC game that allows the player to ride a magical jeepney to visit famous landmarks around the country.

Jeepney ni Jan-Jan is also client friendly and appealing to Filipino school children who are increasingly becoming tech savvy. The game is also designed to encourage kids to be computer literate and at the same time have fun in studying the Philippines geography and history.

"The players will be assisted by Tarsier and Agila, you can play different mini-games such as dancing the tinikling or assembling a bahay kubo to win souvenir postcards and medals," she added. 

Jan-Jan the Jeepney is a joint development effort of Anino Games, Cultural Center of the Philippines and Commission on Information, Communication, and Technology.

Outstanding Consumer Application of the Year- Software Development
Dealer Management Systems, Inc. by Jupiter Systems, Inc.

The ERIC Dealer Management System (DMS) is an end-to-end software solution for automotive businesses. ERIC DMS covers the full range of dealer activities-from marketing to sales and services.

Outstanding Consumer Application of the Year- Transcription
Online-Blended Entry-Level Medical Transcription by Total Transcription Solutions, Inc.

"The Online-Blended Entry-Level Medical Transcription training course offers flexibility of training," said Robert Santos, Program Manager of e-Total Transcription Solutions, Inc.  

According to Santos, since most part of the training is done online, one can learn medical transcription anytime at his/her own pace and time. It also offers training portability, as the user just need a computer with Internet connection to start learning medical transcription.  

Aside from flexibility and portability, students are given feedback by experienced MTs thereby learning vicariously from their mentor’s experience through the weekly feedback sessions.
