Dr. OZ , Jay Richardson and NFL Moms
Twenty mothers of NFL players participating in a health-and-fitness challenge returned to The Dr. Oz Show on Thursday night to crown the MVP. The show also announced the winning team in Dr. Oz’s NFL Moms Ultimate Health Challenge: AFC Moms vs. NFC Moms.
Deborah Johnson, who was also the AFC mom's team captain, earned the crown as the health-and-fitness challenge MVP losing 52lbs, 12 inches off of her waist and improving in her overall health. The dynamic public speaker and proud mother of star defensive end for the Oakland Raiders Jay Richardson received a donation from the Dr. OZ show for $ 5,000 dollars towards The Jay Richardson Foundation, which offers a series of interactive camps for athletes and their parents.
The Foundation will conduct workshops to teach young people essential skills to navigate through life, and will encourage a holistic approach for parents rearing athletes. Since September, the women have been participating in the challenge to see which team could collectively lose the most weight and improve their health stats such as blood pressure, BMI and cholesterol.
The teams have been coached by retired NFL star Eddie George, and his wife and former Survivor contestant Taj, who also returned to the show for the finale. Following the success of the show, Deborah has been in high demand as a dynamic keynote speaker for events and workshops, empowering families and mothers all over the U.S. She is set to appear on the Good Day Columbus Show on Monday Feb. 22 to talk about her experience on the show and offer advice to other women trying to lose weight. Jay, who is entering his fourth season with the Oakland Raiders, has been spending his time during the off season training and making television and radio appearances on Wall to Wall Sports, ESPN Radio, Friday Night Sports, Weekend Edition, and Fox Sports. He also has an upcoming feature in the widely popular C Magazine from his home town of Columbus Ohio.
