The cost of insuring a block of flats is increasing year upon year, with freeholders and landlords finding it more difficult to find the money to pay for their premiums.
At Ember JD Insurance brokers in East Molesey, Surrey, they are trying to combat this with cheaper premiums through various schemes they run through their panel of insurers.
Steve Hayton, who runs the scheme, says that it's essential that freeholders and landlords use a broker to get the cheapest price. "I would always advise freeholders to call a broker to get a quote on their block of flats" he said. "A broker like ourselves will have access to a number of different insurers and we will have certain underwriting authority with these insurers to help bring the premium down to a minimum. We have recently been increasing our book of business on blocks of flats because we can offer extremely competitive premiums."
Ember JD are an insurance brokers that deal in all kinds of property insurance, including standard home and contents, let properties and flood risks. They also have a scheme for people with criminal convictions, who are unlikely to get cover elsewhere.
Steve goes on to say "We have a number of schemes available for all types of risks. It's a shame but these days the customer gets sucked in by what they see on TV, whether it be a talking dog or Michael Winner telling everyone to go direct. They may advise you to 'cut out the middle man' but at the end of the day, the customer is only getting one quote, whereas a broker will be able to give you a list of options within minutes, thanks to the technology we use. We may not offer a talking dog, but we do offer professional advice, which is seriously lacking in the direct market."
Ember JD offer quotes over the phone, or through quote forms on their website at www.emberjd.com.
