FLORENCE – In honor of the anniversary of the founding of the United Service Organization in 1941, Country Cottage assisted living held a talent show at the Cottage on February 4th at 2:00 p.m. Staff members entertained Residents, families and friends with a variety of performances. Long Term Care Ombudsman, Jeff Thompson, attended the event.
At the Cottage’s talent show, Residents and guests enjoyed the talents of many of the staff including a performance of YMCA by The Village people, a conga line, musical performances and even a poetry reading. Managing Director Selena Jackson, LPN, also showed a slideshow of photos of all the Cottage Residents.
“Many of our Residents served in WWII,” said Selena Jackson. “So the USO became their home away from home. That is why we decided to start our own tradition of doing a talent show on the anniversary of the USO’s founding.”
With 140 centers world-wide and partnered with the Department of Defense, the USO provides recreation for our military branches and improves morale during wartime.
