If your PS3 won't turn on, and there is a red light flashing when you attempt to, that is the PS3 red light of death. Most people at this point would turn to Sony, to get their PS3 repaired, and I suggest if you were thinking of doing this to carry on reading. I am a huge fan of the PS3 but Sony has done a shocking job of maintaining their high standards when it comes to customer service.

When my PS3 got this problem I sent it back to Sony to get repaired, and it arrived two months later, and still had the flashing light problem. So I got my money back and did some searching around on the Internet.

The first method that I tried was doing a hard reset. This involved turning the PS3 on from standby, and keeping my finger pressed down on the power button until 3 short beeps were heard. My PS3 made a lot of noise but I still had the PS3 light of death.

The second method I tried was removing the hard disk drive. I pulled the cover down, undid the screws and took the hard drive out, and then replaced it the exact same way I removed it. That didn't work either. I also tried turning it off at the back, leaving it for an hour, and then restarting it, but to no avail.

Now it is running smoothly again, and I haven't had any problems since I fixed my PS3's Red Light of Death.
