When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore. Or so the song goes.
But when the pizza hits your eye like a big heart-shaped pie, it must be Valentine's Day.

Heart-shaped pizzas have been a tradition at Nona Silvia’s Tratoria and Pizzeria for nine years.

At Nonna Silvia's Trattoria and Pizzeria in Park Ridge, heart-shaped pizzas are a Valentine's tradition -- ever since a customer requested one for his wife nine years ago, said owner and chef John Giannini.
The popularity of Valentine-themed pizzas is booming. Giordano's, Lou Malnati's and other area pizzerias offer their own heart-shaped versions.
At Nonna Silvia's, Giannini calls his concoctions "food art."
"The dough is our canvas, the sauce is our paint," he said.
Don't like pizza? Don't worry.
Nonna Silvia's also offers red, heart-shaped raviolis.
