Opening in December 2010 by Executive Director La'Tedra Bingham, Emmanuel’s Place is an endeavor from her heart. Ms. Bingham has incorporated this establishment to serve parents of special needs children. She seeks to fulfill a need in the community she herself experienced while lovingly caring and sacrificing for her own brother who lives with cerebral palsy.
Learning that the CDC reports that 1 in 278 children have cerebral palsy and that Mobile County is one of the counties with the least resources for these kids, Ms. Bingham decided to do something about it.
Ms. Bingham attained formal training at Capps College of Mobile for medical assisting. Consequently, she will use her own education as well as the know-how of other students of similar local colleges who will knowledgeably serve as Emmanuel’s Place’s stellar non-medical staff.
Emmanuel’s Place also offers the convenient and unique services of transportation and an after-school program to coordinate helpfully with the schedules of families in the day-to -day care of their special needs children. For the education and entertainment of the kids, a day at the daycare will consist of fun activities that focus on laying the groundwork to develop their reading and motor skills. Music, arts and crafts, and show and tell all will also be part of the curriculum at Emmanuel’s Place. Emmanuel’s Place will be open on Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., as well as on most holidays when other daycares are usually closed.
Emmanuel’s Place seeks to alleviate some of the daily worry and financial strain sometimes involved in the care of a special needs child. The daycare will allow parents to go to work with less worry knowing their children are in professional, caring hands. In fact, very few children will be assigned to each of several caregivers to ensure that each child receives more than enough attention and supervision. And in keeping with the theme of lessening financial burdens, Medicaid insurance will be accepted at Emmanuel’s Place.
Finally, La'Tedra Bingham along with her friendly, well-trained staff encourages and welcomes both volunteers and donations. "If you are interested in assisting us to make this daycare the very best it can be, please visit our website: http://www.emmanuelsplace.com or email info@emmanuelsplace.com"
To be a part of this effort, Emmanuel’s Place is welcoming monetary and property donations, volunteers, and your input in keeping with the Emmanuel’s Place’s place mantra that it is "a place where everyone has a voice".
