Feb. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the Chula Vista new-home neighborhood Trellis at Windingwalk recently to promote his plan to extend and expand the $10,000 homebuyer tax credit.

During a press conference at the neighborhood under construction by San Diego new home builder Brookfield Homes, Gov. Schwarzenegger addressed the popularity of the first state tax credit for new homebuyers and his goal to make more available this year.

“The first one was $100 million. Now the second one is for $200 million because we really were not aware of how hot it’s going to be and how many people are going to take advantage of it, and that really it made home sales go up and people go back into building homes,” said Gov. Schwarzenegger while construction of Phase 6A homes at Trellis at Windingwalk continued in the background.

During the press conference Gov. Schwarzenegger said Brookfield Homes realized an increase in sales last year when the state’s tax credit was in effect for buyers of new homes. Seventy percent of Brookfield’s homebuyers at Trellis used the tax credit when it was available.

“The governor’s visit helped highlight the availability now of Trellis homes eligible for federal tax credit,” said Lora Heramb, vice president of sales and marketing for Brookfield Homes. Six homes are selling now, with move-in expected in late May. These homes would qualify buyers for federal tax credits of $8,000 for first-time homebuyers or $6,500 for move-up homebuyers.

“Federal tax credit eligibility, great prices and low interest rates combine right now to create an incredible homebuying opportunity at Trellis at Windingwalk,” Heramb said.

With prices starting in the mid $470,000s, Trellis at Windingwalk features four floor plans ranging from approximately 2,361 to 2,620 square feet. The Plan 1 floor plan is currently sold out.

The two-story homes at Trellis have four to five bedrooms, 2.5 to three baths and two-car garages. Exteriors showcase classic architectural styles, including Spanish, Craftsman and California Cottage details.

Trellis interiors, per plan, incorporate formal living and dining rooms, a butler’s pantry, gourmet kitchen island and downstairs bedroom suite. Trellis homes include granite kitchen countertops, maple cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Each home also has a convection oven and microwave. Other standard features included in Trellis homes are:  built in security system, front yard landscaping, and side and backyard fencing.
