Digital Thermography: The Safer Breast Screening, with Early Detection that Could Save Lives

Progressive Medical offers a breast screening technology that can provide early detection, without contact with skin or radiation.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 12, 2010 -
February, 2010, Atlanta, GA—The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force’s recent changes to recommendations for mammography for women in their 40’s, stating that the risk of harm may out weight the benefits, has left many women and lawmakers confused. While the experts support the new recommendations, one important point has been lacking in the political and medical commentary: what alternatives to mammography are safer and available?

Since women, especially African American women, can develop breast cancer as early as in their thirties, the public is screaming that the worst thing that can be done is nothing at all. Fortunately, Progressive Medical Center, offers a safe, painless, accurate alternative breast screening technology to provide the peace of mind that could also save lives before the first sign of a tumor arises: Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI), also known as Digital Thermography, which has been used successfully, with no risks, for over a decade.

The new recommendations that have caused such as stir, were largely formed because of the risks of mammography, like rupturing potentially malignant tumors, causing the cancer to spread and become systemic, as well as risks associated with radiation. Alternatively, the equipment used in Digital Thermography doesn’t have any direct contact with the breast and involves the use of no radiation. In addition, women in their late twenties are recommended to begin receiving screenings, where the breast tissue is too dense at this age for traditional mammography technology to screen accurately. For best results, Progressive’s Dr. Roz Gamba recommends that women begin annual DITI screenings around the age of twenty-eight, so that disturbances can be detected from one year to the next at an early age.

How it works
“This is a test of physiology, not anatomy”, Dr Gamba explains. A tumor often grows for years before it is detected by a traditional mammogram, but DITI screens the breast for disturbances and subtle physiological changes that accompany breast pathology, like vascular feeds leading to a tumor in it’s earliest stages. An off-site M.D. who is Board certified in Thermography then examines the scans. If a disturbance is detected, Progressive physicians will then lay out a plan accordingly to further monitor the breast until other standard testing is positive, where the patient may be referred to the next stage of mammography, sonography, or MRI. This FDA-approved technology allows for truly early detection, which is the best ammunition available in the fight against breast cancer.
