Her interest in this area stems from working with adult survivors of abuse and working with people who have addictions. Many times there is a connection between past abuse and addictive behavior. DeeAnna is considered an expert in text-based online therapy and as her interest about mental health and technology grew, she became aware of the vast amount of people who have begun to struggle with compulsions related to the internet. Since she is comfortable with cyber-culture, it only makes sense that her practice has headed in this direction.
Her private practice is located in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. She sees individuals. She does not conduct couples counseling in the traditional sense. She will bring a partner into the session occasionally if she and the client both agree this might be helpful. For couples who need relationship counseling she works closely with a few counselors in the area.
DeeAnna also sees her in-person clients online. Occasionally clients cannot make an appointment or they are out of town but still want to check in.
