Northern Outfitters sponsored the top three dogsled teams in the 2010 Yukon Quest 300 race. Northern Outfitters manufactures parka, boot and mitten systems that use its patented, moisture-wicking insulation. “The 29 below zero temperature at the beginning of the race just gave our gear a mild workout,” said Jim Harrison, Northern Outfitters owner. “Our clothing is good to 60 degrees below.”
The systems they wore can be found at http://northernoutfitters.com/
Sven Haltmann won the 300-mile race, crossing the finish line in Circle, AK, at 7:42 p.m. on February 8. Second place was taken by Magnus Kaltenborn finishing less than 2 hours later. Third place went to Sean Williams who finished at 4:44 a.m. February 9.
All three mushers wore Northern Outfitters gear, “giving them the edge in warmth, waterproof comfort and moisture transportation,”
The Yukon Quest 300 is a 300-mile race which began February 6 at Fairbanks, AK. It is a recognized qualifying race for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Both Kaltenborn and Williams were running Iditarod legend Martin Buser's Happy Trails Kennels junior dogsled teams.
