US Hypnotherapy Training Watered Down Warns Seattle Hypnotist Roy Hunter

Feb. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- "Our profession has been watered down here (in the US) because of the numerous one or two week crash courses promoted over the years in America," warned internationally known Seattle Hypnotist Roy Hunter Ph.D.  The warning came in a recent interview with  Stephen Gruber of ask-the-hypnotist.com.  The interview can be read in full at www.ask-the-hypnotist.com/seattle-washington-hypnotist-roy-hunter.html

Hunter went on to note that the result of this is that many hypnotists rely on scripts alone, with no ability to employ advanced techniques such as regression or parts therapy.  "We have not progressed as much professionally as in the U.K. and Australia," Hunter concludes.  Hunter, a widely acknowledge expert on both Regression and Parts Therapy, speaks from his experience of regularly being invited to train internationally as well as across N. America.

Hypnotist Hunter explains in the interview that he can foresee the day when informed clients will choose the hypnosis professional who knows a number of techniques over those who only use one modality.  If this is so, then there will be pressure on certified hypnosis professionals to have undergone a broader and more in-depth training than many are currently going through prior to starting a practice.

For Hunter, practicing what he refers to as "Client Centered" Hypnosis is key to successful hypnotherapy.  The essence of this approach is to fit the technique to the client and not the client to a particular technique favored by the Hypnotists.  Such an approach reinforces Hunter's claim for the need for Hypnotherapists to be trained in a broad range of techniques.

In the interview, available in full at http://www.ask-the-hypnotist.com/seattle-washington-hypno...,  Hunter covers many aspects of Hypnosis and explains how he made the career switch from pressured insurance executive to professional hypnotist, author and trainer.  Readers also learn how he regularly uses self-hypnosis for his own continuing benefit.
