Established in 1795, Jaques of London is the oldest sports and games manufacturer in the World. Throughout their long and distinguished history Jaques have been responsible for inventing some of the World’s most popular sports and family games including Croquet, Ping Pong, Ludo, Happy Families and Snakes & Ladders. These and other achievements, such as the introduction of Staunton chessmen in 1839, have earned the Company many accolades over the years, including two gold medals at the Great Exhibition of 1851, Freedom of the City of London in 1869, and a personal commission by Queen Mary herself in 1902.
Still owned and managed by direct descendents of founder Thomas Jaques (b.1765), Jaques’ current Master Craftsmen remain true to their ancestors’ commitment to quality and traditional methods of manufacture and continue to hand-craft some of the finest sports and games equipment in the World today.
