Lexington Healing Arts Academy has added Mindfulness Meditation and Traditional Iyengar Yoga workshops and a new weekly class, Tension Tamer, to their yoga schedule.
The Mindfulness Meditation workshop is for both beginners and experienced practitioners. The workshop is Sunday, February 21 from 3:00-5:00 PM at a cost of $30.
Welcome the first day of spring with a commitment to an exuberant yoga practice with the Traditional Iyengar Yoga workshop, Saturday, March 20 from 1:00-4:00 PM. Iyengar yoga places a strong emphasis on alignment, uses various sequences in order to arrive at particular outcomes, and has an element of timing in the poses so that the duration is related to the desired outcome. Instructor Alex Cleveland is the owner of Yoga at Crescent Hill in Louisville. He has been a yoga student, practitioner, and instructor for over 20 years and continues his studies with senior Iyengar teachers and at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in India. The cost of the workshop is $45.
Tension Tamer is a class for anyone who has ever felt like Atlas, with the weight of the world on their shoulders. In this class, students will focus on lengthening spines, relaxing necks, and letting go of responsibility for an hour. The practice will center on asana (poses) specifically suited to calming the body, settling the mind, and releasing habitual patterns of tension. The class begins March 2, and will be held every Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:15 PM. The instructor is Beth Connors-Manke.
Lexington Healing Arts Academy is an accredited Massage Therapy and Yoga Teacher Training school, Massage Clinic, and Yoga Center located at 272 Southland Drive in Lexington, Kentucky.
