It turns out the Super Bowl Google ad about a love story in France is true for one couple who studied abroad several years ago with CEA Global Education.
The popular Google ad, which is getting much buzz on the web thanks to its simple, heart-warming love story told through a series of Internet searches, opens with someone "googling" "study abroad paris france" and clicking on a link to CEA's study abroad programs in Paris, France. The brief mention of CEA Global Education tripled web traffic to the web page featured in the TV ad within a 24-hour span of its appearance on Super Bowl Sunday.
But what's even more amazing is the very real love story that began for one couple in Paris, France, in Fall 2002. That's when Kate Robinson and Allan Siiman first met at a Paris airport, collecting their luggage and meeting one of CEA's Paris staff to begin a study abroad program in Grenoble, France.
The happy couple married in June 2006 and is expecting their first child in July.
"On Monday morning, our Tempe office was very excited that CEA had been featured in a Google ad during the Super Bowl, especially after learning from employees that they remembered a story about a couple who really did find true love through CEA in Paris nearly 10 years ago," said Gina Lind, Director of Marketing Communications for CEA Global Education. "With Valentine's Day approaching, who wouldn't be touched by such a story? We quickly began combing through archives looking to track down the couple behind the real love story."
CEA staff crafted a video response parodying the Google ad and posted it on YouTube, along with the Kate and Allan's story on our homepage and Facebook Fan page, which garnered many thumbs up and a couple comments.
Reminiscing about how they first met this week was fun, Kate Robinson said on the phone from Oshkosh, Wisc., where she's now a high school French teacher. "I thought, 'That's the handsomest guy I've ever seen … I hope he's going where I'm going!"
