Over 1,000 companies and brands from 39 countries were in contention across the 16 award categories of the 2010 iF product design awards, considered the hallmark for awarding excellence in design and a major trend barometer of outstanding design work. Silhouette is no stranger to the awards - being one of the most successful eyewear manufacturers in the award’s history.
The international jury of experts evaluated eleven criteria for the awards, originally established in 1953: Design quality, processing, selection of materials, degree of innovation, environmental sustainability, functionality, ergonomics, usage visualisation, safety, brand value and branding and universal design.
The prize-winning designs can be seen from March to August 2010 at the iF product design award exhibition in Hanover and will be on permanent exhibition on the website of International Forum Design. There will also be an iF product design award yearbook available in the spring of 2010 showcasing all the winning designs – including Silhouette’s ‘Dreamwings’
