The Sheffield-based group has won over £17m in new Government-funded contracts aimed at equipping people looking for work with the skills to secure sustainable employment.

The new contracts include Jobcentre Plus Support Contract in the Northumbria, South Tyne and Wear Valley  Department for Work and Pensions European Social Fund contract in North East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and The Humber, plus Learning and Skills Council’s Routeways into Work in Greater London and the North West, along with Work Focused Training in the North West.

Adrian Holmes, Group Chief Executive Officer, esg, says: “The effective delivery of these essential Government programmes is key to helping people back into work.  Providing individuals with sustainable skills that employers want is an important contributing factor that will help the UK out of recession and strengthen the economy.

“The various Government agencies with which we are partnering to deliver these programmes recognised that our innovative approach, when working with unemployed people, delivers real results that make a difference to people’s opportunities and lives.  We help people by understanding their needs and the needs of the economy and bringing the two together for mutual benefit.”

“Furthermore, our success helps secure the long-term future of esg and our 800 staff and provides an excellent platform to realise our plans for sustained growth over the coming years.”

Work Focused Training and Routeways to Work are both part of the Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee, which provides additional support for young people aged 18-24 years old, who are approaching the 12 month point of unemployment in order to train them for real work and get them back into the labour market.

esg’s Jobcentre Plus Support Contract is a five year contract to provide specific and targeted interventions to help Jobcentre Plus customers who have been claiming Job Seekers Allowance for over six months to gain essential skills, attitudes and experiences to prepare them to return to the labour market.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) European Social Fund contract in Yorkshire and The Humber is targeted specifically at helping people suffering from mental ill health and with disabilities to find sustainable employment.
