In a state-wide first, the Cerebral Palsy League (CPL) has relaunched its website with innovative text-to-speech software called BrowseAloud, that will allow Queenslanders with literacy difficulties, mild visual impairments and other complex disabilities greater access to vital online content.
CPL’s CEO, Angela Tillmanns, said that the revolutionary software would provide those who have difficulty reading text with greater independence and equal opportunity to browse information on the CPL website (cplqld.org.au)
“BrowseAloud is really easy to use. The user simply highlights the content he or she is interested in and, with the ‘click’ of a button, the software reads the words aloud,” Ms Tillmanns said.
“CPL is proud to be Queensland’s first not-for-profit and non-government organisation to offer this innovation and we would like to encourage other organisations nationwide to follow suit and provide greater online access to people with complex disabilities,”
The BrowseAloud software can be easily downloaded for free via at www.cplqld.org.au and also features text magnification, a dictionary and translator.
