I overheard a conversation today at work and it sort of bothered me, so I wanted to get out my frustrations. The conversation was going on between two other girls and they were discussing the free trial supplements found on the web. One girl, Mary had just got her free bottle of an acai berry product sent to her house and was excited about it and sharing the news with another girl Stephanie. Stephanie immediately began telling Mary that she had been taken advantage of, how the whole free trial thing on the web is a scam and how nothing in life is free, how her credit card was going to be billed over and over and over again and there is nothing she can do about it. Blah blah blah. Mary went from super excited to very sad but she really needn't feel that way. I'll tell you why.

I myself get supplements from the web all of the time. I've received samples of acai berry supplements, red wine resveratrol supplements, colon cleanse products, acai with pomegranate, you name it, I probably used it or still use it. Was I scammed? Not in the least. So, what's all the talk about being scammed and how the products aren't really free, or whether they even work or not?
Let me try to answer these questions one at a time. Are the products free? Not really, but for the most part, yeah. You see, you get a trial bottle of the supplement, whether it be a 14 day trial, 30 day trial, whatever. But, you have to pay for the shipping. Usually less than $10. That's where the initial cost comes in. So why do they charge shipping and give the product free? Well, a lot of people won't try something if they aren't sure if it works, but if they don't have much to lose, they might give it a try. The company's know this, which is why they give you the first bottle free. They ask for a credit card number to pay for shipping because they are confident about their products and they want you to stay as a customer, so the fine print is that they will charge your card again after x number of days and send you a new bottle. If you don't want to be charged because the supplement didn't work for you, and it may not because everyone is different, than just call the toll free number to cancel. Plain and simple. And you won't be billed again. I have done this time and again without hassle and I pay close attention to my credit card bills and have seen no monkey business going on.

You see, offering something for free up front, asking for a credit card to pay shipping, and rebilling monthly is a great business model. It works, that's why these businesses do it. They know what works and they want to make money. I doubt it very much that any of them are looking to scam anyone or they wouldn't be in business very long. Most of the customers enjoy the product and see results so the company knows they will recoup the costs of offering something free. Plus I'm sure they have a decent profit margin so it doesn't take long.
Now, using famous celebrities to help with promotion is a bit shady I admit, but that's been going on for years. Watch any commercial and see if you can't spot a celebrity. And do you think they really use the product being advertised. I doubt it. They just get paid well as a spokesperson. Those types of promos online are being cracked down on so you probably won't see much of that anymore anyways.

As for the safety of the products, I personally only bother with superfoods or products that are made naturally. I don't look for weight loss products with chemicals and other junk. I get products that promote healing, not ones that make me sicker. In the case of acai, I'll be getting very healthy antioxidants to keep the free radicals at bay. For colon cleanse products, I will be getting assistance ridding my body of waste and losing weight in the process.
That's my time. Hope I cleared up any confusion and you feel safer about the free trial supplement offers available online.
I'm an avid tester of free trial supplements on the Internet. I don't want to spend money on something that doesn't work for my body type, so I'm happy to be offered an affordable testing price (the shipping). Although I can't vouch for all free trial offers online, here are a couple I have been successful with: Acai Berry Detox and Resveratrol Supplements.
