Fancy Cakes by Leslie introduces liquor-infused cupcakes
BETHESDA, MARYLAND (February 8, 2010) -- Fancy Cakes by Leslie has just made their already popular cupcakes even more enjoyable – by adding liquor. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Fancy Cakes by Leslie is now featuring custom-made liquor-infused cupcakes, creating the perfect after-dinner balance between dessert and cocktails.
Already well known for designing elaborate cakes for celebrity clientele such as Jennifer Lopez, as well as creating the birthday cake for Pope Benedict XVI, Fancy Cakes by Leslie has taken the Washington, DC cupcake craze to an entirely new level. The custom liquor-infused cupcakes are a unique addition to boozy dessert options in the District.
Unlike conventional liquor-infused desserts, where the liquor is added pre-baking (and where both flavor and potency bake out in the oven), Fancy Cakes owner Leslie Poyourow adds the liquor after the cupcakes come from the oven. Once the cupcakes are baked, they are brushed with bourbon, Kahlua or Grand Marnier, injected with high-test ganache, and then topped with a boozy butter cream icing. The only hard part is deciding which liquor to flavor the cupcakes with.
“What’s fun about the liquor-infused cupcakes is that they’re the grown-up version of your favorite childhood party dessert. They also give a more masculine appeal to something that is normally considered very girly, ” says Poyourow.
Cupcakes are priced at $3.99 each and special orders are now being taken for Valentine’s Day. With advance notice, special requests may be made for Vanilla-Glen Livet or Red Velvet cupcakes soaked in Chambord as well as French Chocolate cupcakes spiked with Woodford Reserve.
