Feb. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Perry Chen, 9-yr-old award-winning film critic & radio talk show host on wsRadio, presented the "Character Design" awards for TV and feature film production with co-presenter and Annie nominee Nicky Jones at the 37th Annie Awards for animation on Feb 6, 2010 at UCLA Royce Hall to over 1500 Who's Who in animation and entertainment.  William Shatner, the hilarious host of Annie Awards, introduced Perry and Nicky on stage.

Perry's humor, appealing personality, and wonderful presence made him an instant hit with the audience.  He had to use a stool on stage in order to be visible to the audience.  Perry was having such a fabulous time on stage, he was dancing away as he exited the stage after his presentation to loud cheers in the audience.

Perry enjoyed being interviewed on the red carpet for the second time following his debut at the 10th annual San Diego Asian Film Festival in October 2009.  He loved interviewing director Pete Docter of Up on the red carpet.  Docter is Perry's "old friend" from last year when he and producer Jonas Rivera met Perry during their press tour for Up.  "Do you remember me?" asked Perry.  "Yes, I remember you.  That was a long time ago.  You were smaller then. I was taller then, now I am shorter," joked Pete Docter who showed Perry the secret of his "Ellie badge" from his movie "Up" that he was wearing on his suit.  "Do you know you will be presenting right after me? I hope you'll win so I can give the Annie Award to you!"  Perry said.  "Thanks and good luck to you on stage," said Pete Docter who also liked Perry's new business card with 5 starfish.  Later on that night, Perry was delighted that his best animated film prediction was right on again!  Up and its director Pete Docter won best animation and best director.

Perry enjoyed meeting Up's co-director Bob Peterson who voiced Dug the friendly dog in Up.  Peterson entertained Perry with his "Dug" voice during the interview.

Another "old friend" that Perry loved reconnecting was director John Musker of "The Princess & the Frog,"  "I do remember you, we met at Disney D23 last year.  I read your article.  I think we got 5 starfish," said Musker.  "What's your next project going to be?" asked Perry.  "We want it to be hand-drawn animation.  We are going to talk to John Lasseter in about a month." Said Musker.  He congratulated Perry, then teased him, "You know there are a lot of cute girls tonight, Perry..."

Perry was happy later that evening, "The Princess & the Frog" won three Annie Awards: Jen Codi for voice of Charlotte, Eric Goldberg for character animation, James Mansfield for animated effects.  Perry met Codi and Goldberg at the VIP dinner post awards and congratulated both.

4-starfish-rated Coraline from Laika animation studio won 3 Annies: Shane Prigmore for character design (announced by Perry), Tadahiro Uesugi for production design, and Bruno Coulais for music.  Perry enjoyed meeting Phil Knight, chairman of Laika and Nike, who congratulated Perry on his presentation.

Perry also enjoyed interviewing Antran Manoogian, ASIFA-Hollywood President who invited Perry to attend the 37th Annie Awards.  "This is the first time we are hosting the Annie on a Saturday. We have more attendees and more media coverage this year.  I'm so glad to invite you to present awards at Annie this time," said Manoogian.

Perry and his mom Dr. Zhu Shen, executive producer of wsRadio's "Perry Previews the Movies," enjoyed all the festivities at the 37th Annie Awards.  Perry gave the event a five starfish rating!
