Hotwired music was founded by Mat McKinley. Mat has been a freelance composer, arranger, programmer and performer of music for a wide range of media including TV, Radio, Multi and Interactive Media, Theatre, Modern Dance and Commercial Music production. His work has been heard on the BBC, ITV, Channels 4 and 5, Sky and many other National and European satellite and cable networks. As a lecturer at Alchemea College of Audio Engineering in London, Mat was inspired to start Hotwired Music to offer learning resources for musicians of all styles and abilities.

Many years ago, when Mat was searching for books to learn more about music, he was frustrated to find very little in the way of information that he could relate to. What was available was either too simple or too theoretical with not much in between. His classical training had given me him good technique, but not a lot of practical musical knowledge. The books that were on offer didn’t really answer his questions and left him wondering about many details

After a long period of self-learning, Mat encountered a similar issue regarding a lack of music resource book as a music teacher. Many students used to ask him what books he should advise them to read. They were asking the same questions he asked himself when he was in a similar position.

The aim of the pack was to produce a set of books which would serve as a great learning platform for people wanting to further their skills in music production and present the material in an easy-to-read format with practical examples.

Hotwired Live

Hotwired Live offers a unique alternative to other more traditional courses. Its primary aims are to stimulate and expand one's creative potential and to accelerate the learning curve facilitating a quicker conception of ideas. Improving one’s self musically can be a demanding and serious challenge but should also be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Hotwired courses aim to give musicians the tools they need to develop their musicality, their perception and creativity.
