Hotels-Fairy.com flies around the internet to compare prices from more than 30 rival booking sites, including Travelocity, Lastminute.com and Expedia, in a bid to find the cheapest room.
The hotel price comparison site, hotels-fairy.com is primarily aimed at independent travellers and has details of 200,000 hotels in195 countries. It is confident it can save users up to 75% by finding the cheapest rooms available.
The company, which is operates independently of all the main booking sites, is the brainchild of award-winning businessman Tom Greenwood, 27, and his wife Vineeta, 28, who own the design agency Scamper Branding, based in Stratford‐upon‐
They have combined their lifelong passion for travel with their team’s technical expertise to create Hotels Fairy, which is totally free to use for consumers.
Tom, who won the 2007 KTP Business Leader of Tomorrow Award from the UK Department of Trade and Industry, said: “People may think that they are getting the best deals on hotels by booking via sites like Expedia and Lastminute.com.
“But that is not necessarily the case. If a person books with the same site each time, they are probably missing out on cheaper deals elsewhere. The fact is that there are some brilliant hotel room bargains out there: it is just having the ability to find them. That is where Hotels Fairy can help.”
For example, a random Hotels Fairy sample of 50 hotels around the world threw up an average 25% price difference between the most expensive and cheapest price quoted for the same type of room at the same hotel, on the same night.
Tom said this showed that by a simple Hotels Fairy search, holidaymakers could typically save about £25 on a £100 room by comparing rather than going to just one booking website. The biggest saving in the sample search was 72.5% on the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in Cape Town.
Tom added: “There is no distinct pattern of which sites give the best prices, so it’s worth comparing rather than trusting sites like Expedia and Booking.com to always get you the best price.
“In our sample, the websites that delivered the lowest prices most often were Otel.com and EasytoBook.com (both the cheapest 14% of the time). Big names faired less well.”
The company is also passionate about sustainability and aims to minimise any negative impact of its business on the environment by hosting its website and hotel price comparison engine on carbon neutral servers.
