A recent trend in wedding videography is what is being called the “cinematic style.” As opposed to the documentary or journalism style, which is mainly hand held digital vide. Cinematic is more stable and has more of a film-like look to it.
It is said that video captures what the eye sees, and film captures what the mind sees. Although these cinematic weddings are shot with a digital camcorder, it is likely the videographer is using a 24p or 24p simulated type of camera. Other factors include lighting, graphics, and use of tripods and dollies. A tripod dolly allows the camera to be moved fluidly why still being stable mounted on the tripod. These would most likely be used at receptions, especially during a musical performance.
Many companies offer a hybrid sort of style, that encompasses both the journalistic and cinematic. Element Media’s videos feature highlights, stills, motion graphics, but still feature the ceremony in a journalistic style for those that want to view the event as it actually unfolded.
