Feb. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- "The Corrupt Republic" is a timely political thriller, cutting directly to the core of suspected corruption, yet leaving us hopeful that justice and ethics still exist despite the rampant politics, power, corruption, and unchecked greed that has become a staple of American life. The book presents a foundation for dialogue on our nation's direction and beliefs, as much as it is a stark look into the reality we face in the wake of increasing governmental control.

Summary:  Inspired by and beneath the backdrop of the record financial bailouts and growing public distrust of Wall Street and the financial sector, Washington politicians on both sides of the political aisle smell the blood in the water approaching a mid-term election. Jack Thomason, a fiercely independent attorney and advisor to many of the world's major financial companies, is appointed as "Independent Counsel for Financial Oversight" as overseer of taxpayer fund recovery and to represent the Government's and American people's ownership stake in these organizations, a role he reluctantly accepts. As Jack and his team uncover the financial secrets hidden within the bailouts, he discovers a trail of incriminating evidence implicating that Washington's highest-ranking officials are being leveraged with monies by the same institutions they've financially rescued. He also encounters threads of corruption that lead through market manipulation and even Mafia control of major brokerages. Jack's pragmatism, authenticity, ethics and devout beliefs carry into his mission to serve the American people.

"The Corrupt Republic" is Andrew Buck's debut in the political fiction space, and "a timely thriller set against the backdrop of historic government involvement in the global financial crisis. It presents a plausible scenario for corruption within the financial and banking sectors that compels consideration of the relationship between business and political power, presenting within it a wide series of ethical and moral parallels. Though the work was begun well before the current events of today, it also provides a striking parallel to those events, as well as the divisions in our country's political philosophy.  More than ever, its relevance is underscored by the changes in politics, questioning of the ethics behind the bailouts, and whether the American people will ultimately benefit by government involvement in big business.
