Ron Caruthers, one of the nation’s leading experts on getting into and paying for colleges, was recently inducted into The National Academy of Best-Selling Authors™ after releasing the book, Shift Happens: America’
Shift Happens was released on November 19, 2009. On the day of release, the book was a #1 Best-Seller in the Direct Marketing category. The book also reached the best-seller list in two other categories, the Entrepreneurship category, and the Communications category.

He was born and raised in Santa Monica, California—right above ‘Baywatch’
Ron graduated from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, CA in 1985. He graduated with top honors as the sole valedictorian of his class, being ranked number 1 out of 419 students. However, due to poor career planning and lack of finances, he did not immediately go on to college. In fact, 7 years later, that led to him researching the financial aid system, as well as taking a hard look into just how poorly most students were prepared for college and a career.
In 1995, Ron Caruthers launched his college planning company in Vista, CA. Since then, he has worked with over 2600 families helping them attain their college dreams. For the Class of 2009, he personally worked with 96 families.
