Acorn Media UK have announced that the new episode of Midsomer Murders, The Sword of Guillaume is available on DVD exclusively early from their website.
The episode which is due to be aired 8pm Wednesday 10th February on ITV guest stars British TV stalwarts Brian Capron, Lucy Cohu, Tim McInnerny, Janet Suzman and Saskia Reeves as well as stars of more offbeat shows such as The League of Gentleman’s Mark Gatiss.
Midsomer Murders is now one of Britain’s most popular and longest running TV dramas and the impending departure of John Nettles from the lead role has precipitated a flurry of speculation about his successor on the show. Will the new lead detective be a woman? Will the old Doctor Who Peter Davison be re-incarnated in Midsomer; his famous cricket bat would certainly come in handy in Midsomer and not just playing for the local cricket team!
In the latest episode, The Sword of Guillaume, Barnaby joins a trip from Midsomer Parva to Brighton because he's suspicious about a deal to buy coastal land for holiday chalets by Causton's mayor. Also against the proposal is Lady Matilda William, a descendant of a French knight Sir Richard Guillaume, whose son Richard will be the last of the line because of brain damage sustained in an attack 20 years ago.
When a hated property developer and a voluptuous hotelier are beheaded, Barnaby starts to piece together the puzzle of The Sword of Guillaume.
John Nettles certainly seemed to enjoy filming this episode "We filmed in one of the hottest weeks of last summer and it was great to be in Brighton, working along the seafront for a change. My old friend Brian Capron plays our dodgy mayor Dave Hicks and we had a great time together and filming at places like the Royal Pavilion.”
The DVD is now available for pre-order on Acorn Media UK and is ready to be dispatched from 18th February and will be the only place you can order the DVD until a general release later in the year.
