Feb. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- To allow patients to make an informed decision about bariatric surgery, Streamline Surgical are pleased to announce the launch of their new patient information packs.

Prospective patients are very aware of the successes of obesity surgery procedures but how can they filter through the vast array of information available in the media and on the internet? What is fact and what is sales spiel?

Streamline Surgical offer a variety of information sources including an up to date and informative website, regular online webchats and free information seminars. They do, however, accept that not everyone has access to the internet and so they have just published comprehensive information packs.

The A4 folders are packed full of useful information that is delivered in an innovative new style. A comprehensive set of inserts are included and designed so that the information can be found quickly and easily with tabs. The information inserts are easy to replace and therefore up to date. Probably the most useful aspect is that of patient stories. Prospective patients will be sent patient stories relevant to them and the type of surgery they are interested in.

Toni Russo, bariatric nurse consultant for Streamline Surgical said:

“The feedback about our new information packs has been excellent.  We are sure this is because of the tailored nature of each of the packs.  We ensure each prospective patient receives information relevant to them - let’s face it, a 50 year old diabetic man isn’t likely to be inspired by an account of a 30 year old woman discussing polycystic ovaries and bikinis!”

Bill (51) is considering a gastric band having read the pack:

“My wife suggested the operation but I wasn’t keen as it seemed to be a treatment for women. I read the story of the guy in the pack and related a lot to his story. I then went to the seminar and there were a few men there too so I didn’t feel out of place. I’m hoping to book the surgery in the next few months.”
