HOUSTON, TEXAS – February 1, 2010 – Southwest Oral & Implant Surgery, a 35 year old oral surgery practice owned by Dr. Michael K. Eklund, D.D.S., M.S., has named Wayne W. Loney, Jr., D.D.S., M.S. as an associate in the practice. Dr. Loney joins Southwest Oral & Implant Surgery after spending five years in private practice in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Loney received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University and his Master of Science from The University of North Texas Health Science Center. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The UT Health Science Center, San Antonio, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Loney completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Loney has also been involved with biostatistics research, including teaching and lecturing, and he has published several peer journal articles. He was the recipient of the Upjohn Research Achievement Award, several academic awards, and a NIH grant for research in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Loney is a member of the Texas Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration, Texas Dental Association, and San Antonio District Dental Society.
