Spain must wake up to the fact that the barbaric slaughter of bulls is to admit a poverty of tourism attractions, remarked Glenn Rogers, CEO of global publicity machine Mediazone Ltd. Speaking in Hong Kong today, he remarked that the inevitable outcome of the debate to stop bull fighting in Spain is long overdue.
"Spain must accept that the world is not amused by the gore of the slaughter or the cowardice of the matador and tourists would be more than willing forego the novelty in exchange for a clearer conscience."
"What sort of barbaric people would enjoy the slaughter of an animal at the hands of a trained and clearly advantaged human being. And what sort of people would it take to accept such a god-awful practice of offering the slain animal's ears as a trophy to the 'victor'?" he remarked.
He called on tourists to Spain to boycott the sport and force the government to put an end to this mindless show of false bravado and focus on the country's less-than-competitive education system instead.
"Stop producing blood-thirsty, cowards and start nurturing true talent that will make Spain more competitive in Europe, at least. Stop this disgraceful showcase of murder, please."
