FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 06, 2010 -
Since their return to serve lower and mid-Fairfield county; operating out of Greenwich in 2006, Girls Inc.  of Southwestern, CT  has reached over 1,000 local girls through after school programming, vacation and summer camps, and collaborations with other community based organizations such as public libraries, youth agencies, and the Greenwich Housing Authority.

This winter, Girls Inc. is expanding their after school offerings to East School in New Canaan, where they are offering two exciting programs, Girls Inc. Operation SMART® and Girls Inc. She’s on the Money®.

Operation SMART® (science, math and relevant technology) is a hands-on program which allows girls to participate in fun experiments that build their interest and skills in math and science. Operation SMART® involves discovering, creating, and solving mysteries, which are things that today's girls are good at. Girls will explore areas such as: the human body, nature and animals, the solar system, architecture, chemical reactions, and much more. Operation SMART® is designed to engage girls in fun experiments and peek their interest in future careers in the field of math and science.

She’s on the Money® provides girls with the skills and self-confidence they need to contribute to the economy and make strong, smart and bold decisions about their financial futures. Girls learn how to budget, save, take informed financial risks, and avoid feeling intimidated about money at an age appropriate level. The fun and interactive activities pique girls’ curiosity and interest in money matters and help them understand the important role they play in our economy.

Girls Inc. is happy to work in collaboration with East School’s PTA to provide New Canaan girls with high quality, fun and effective programs this winter. The organization’s goal is to extend Girls Inc. of Southwestern CT programs to other New Canaan schools as the year progresses.
