At the age of 24, Elizabeth Cauley had exactly 40 songs on her ITunes catalog. She didn’t know the difference between Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan. It was then that she decided to listen to the 1001 best albums of all time and blog about her journey, reviewing 1 album a day, everyday.
Beginning in August of 2009, she started listening to the albums from the 1950’s, first with Frank Sinatra’s “In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning”. Almost 200 albums into her journey, she has passed through the 1960’s with only a few psychedelic music wounds to speak of.
“There is so much great music out there,” Cauley said, “and its been an absolute treat to actually listen to it. Even if some of it’s a little crazy.” Cauley has listened to Elvis and The Beatles, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. She has survived her much dreaded jazz phase and delighted in the new rock scene.
The 1001 Album Challenge has allowed not only Cauley but also her hundreds of loyal readers the opportunity to listen and relive the best music of our time.
