Sunquest Supports New Meaningful Use Guidelines For Laboratories Transferring H1n1 Results

Sunquest Information Systems, Inc. announced that its laboratory data systems help laboratories manage the H1N1 influenza epidemic by facilitating easy transfer of health results to the Centers for Disease Control or state public health departments. This enables Sunquest customers to meet a number of the new “Meaningful Use” guidelines spelled out in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The new guidelines authorize the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide reimbursement incentives for eligible professionals and hospitals who are successful in becoming “meaningful users” of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology. “Sunquest is connected to more Departments of Health for US States than any other laboratory IT provider in the global marketplace,” according to Kelly Feist, Sunquest’s vice president of marketing.
