Baby Bonnet and Hat Maker Susu & John Partners with Cathy Downey for Midwest Region Sales
ATLANTA—February 1—Southern baby bonnet and hat maker Susu & John has partnered with Midwest sales rep Cathy Downey in ongoing brand expansion.
“The bonnet is as iconic in the Midwest as in the South,” said Susu & John co-owner Janie McQueen. "Ours offers classic look and modern style."
Handmade in Beaufort, SC, the bonnet is based on an original heirloom pattern, updated with trendy designer fabrics along with traditional ginghams. Susu & John’s boy’s bucket hat is also unique in that it features four buttons all around so the brim can be flipped for different looks.
“People are getting back to basics, but still want the highest quality and classic style,” McQueen said. “Ours is an heirloom item but also functional, stylish and machine washable, truly made to be worn often.” Bonnets wholesale at $17.50; hats at $14.00. Reversible, coordinating diaper covers, called Beaufort Button Britches, wholesale at $10.00.
Downey’s other lines include Daydream Heirloom and Patricia Ann Designs. “Cathy has an amazing track record repping gift and accessory lines like ours,” McQueen said. “It was clear after just a couple of conversations that we’d make a great match.”
Susu & John arrived just in time for the Midwest Children’s Apparel Show in Deerfield, IL Feb. 6, and will be introduced at 9 other regional shows in early spring.
A collection of cool weather hats and coordinating dresses and coveralls is planned for April.
