Centrifuge has been widely used in oilfield since late 1980’s and become an indispensable solids control equipment, especially in middle level well and horizontal well. It has the following features:

Separation of solids and fluid is done in the drum. Its principle is : high-speed rotating drum drive inner mud rotate speedily and then the mud is thrown onto drum’s surface to form a fluid circle. Under the centrifugal force, solid sedimentary force in the separated liquid will be several hundreds even thousands of times heavier than its own gravity so as to separate the solids from the suspension quickly. The ratio of centrifugal force which the solids have gained and the solid’s gravity is called as separating factor. The larger the centrifugal force, the finer the separated solids, so three types of centrifuge can get according to separating factor.
a)Low-speed centrifuge: it is also called “barite recovery” centrifuge. Its separating factor is 500~700. To low-density solids, its separating point is 6~10μm. To high-density solids, its separating point is 4~7μm. This kind of centrifuge can be used for recovering barite.
b)Medium-speed centrifuge: its separating factor is 800 or so, solids of 5~7μm can be separated, so harmful solids can be separated from the mud, so that gravity and viscosity of the mud can be controlled. Most drill team will choose this kind of centrifuge at present.
c)High-speed centrifuge: its separating factor is 1200~2100 or so, separating point is
2~5μm, it can remove harmful solids, control mud viscosity, it is usually connected with low speed centrifuge to make up a dual centrifuge system(See figure 3). In the system, low-speed centrifuge is installed at the first grade, barite separated .

LW series is a normal decanting centrifuge mode of our company,they are ideal choices for separating particles in drilling mud. Decanting Centrifuge separate the suspending fluids using the principle of centrifugal action, the suspending fluids is pushed into the rotor drum through the inlet pipe and the fluid hole of the spiral feeder. Under the influence of centrifugal force, solid phase particles are pushed to the internal wall of the drum, then to the nud export of the small end of the drum and excreted. But the fluids is excreted from the overflow hole of the large end. Such cycle is in order to achieve the purpose of continuous separation.High speed decanting centrifuge are effective for separation .

Oilfield Decanter Centrifuge For drilling fluids
Decanter centrifuge are used to process unweighted and weighted, water-based and oil-based drilling fluids (muds). Mechanical energy is utilized to increase the gravitational force exerted on solids that are present in the mud system.oilfield Decanting Centrifuge are able to apply over 3,000 G-forces on the liquid/solids mixture, which separates the heavier solids from the lighter solids. Additionally, high G-forces separate fine solids from liquid.

Our centrifuge can only used for separate heavier solids from the drilling mud fluid. It can not used in pharmaceuticals and food industry. But we are developing much higher speed centrifuge for these industries. Maybe our machine can be used to separate grease and water from the fur animal in the near future.
