The year 2010 has been declared by the food and tourism industry of Wirral as Wirral's Year of Food predominantly with a view to celebrating all its achievements and successes. This means the peninsula will get to see a year long celebration of great food and of course wine.
Phenomenal growth from strength to strength. This is how one can describe the growth of Wirral's food sector over the last four years, with chefs and producers winning national accolades.
As a matter of fact, its restaurant sector has been adorned by a series of successes. The major ones are; a much deserved Michelin star conferred on Fraiche in Oxton in 2009 January, Good Food Guide of Which awarded the same restaurant the best wine list later in the same year, and a small and tidy restaurant in Irby, Da Piero being recognised the best fresh entry by Which Guide in 2010.
As the food served at Da Piero in Irby was described by Which guide as food that fill the customer with joy, Claremount Farm has been on a steady march ahead; truly from strength to strength, with their Vegi-Table courses turning out as fast sellers.
It is also refreshing for the tourists that Farmhouse Breakfast week will be launched at Mere Brook House in Thornton Hough next week, where fresh breakfast-related farm products on offer would be highlighted. Furthermore, a special Valentines Day menu from the local farm produce will be offered at New Brighton's freshly opened Peninsul Dining room, for a price of GBP 30 per head.
Meanwhile, a car rental company that operates in the United Kingdom, Car-Hire-UK strives to compliment the Wirral's Year of Food by floating cheap and value for money car rentals across the country.
