According to the latest data released by Dataxis Intelligence, worldwide mobile broadband subscriptions stood at 52.5 million as of September 2009, up more than 55% from a year earlier and are estimated to have crossed the 55 million mark by 2009-end. These subscriptions according to Dataxis are related to users of USB dongles, data cards, or embedded modules to access internet while on the go through EVDO or HSPA networks.
As shown on the chart below, Europe leads the market accounting for more than 45% mobile broadband users worldwide followed by Asia-Pacific with 25% while North America accounts only for 10% at the same level of Middle-East and Africa together, and eventually Latin America is home to 8% of users.
