Kansas City, Mo. – Grantham University, an online university dedicated to providing educational opportunities to working adults for nearly 60 years, announced today the availability of several new Nursing programs to build upon and expand on the knowledge and skills a professional registered nurse has developed throughout his or her career.
The first, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing: RN-BSN Degree Completion Program adds to the foundation of previous nursing education at the associate degree or diploma levels. This program is evidence-based and has been developed according to the Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Practice from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2009, AACN).
Grantham University’s second nursing program is a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree, which is also evidence-based and has been developed according to the Essentials of Master’s Education for Nursing from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2009, AACN). This program takes the knowledge and skills learned during the baccalaureate nursing program to the next level in the areas of Case Management, Nursing Education, Nursing Informatics, and Nursing Management and Organizational Leadership. There is also an RN to MSN Option for those registered nurses without a baccalaureate degree who want to accelerate the attainment of an MSN by completing 21 undergraduate credit hours and 36 graduate credit hours.
“In the next 10 years, the registered nursing field is projected to grow by almost 600,000 positions,” said Dr. Susan Fairchild, chair of Nursing at Grantham University. “As hospitals, physician’s offices, and community and public health agencies tighten their educational requirements, registered nurses who further their education will have a distinct advantage in the marketplace and better career advancement opportunities.”
