Feb. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- NORCROSS, Georgia – Distance education leader Ashworth College announced today that Ashworth alumnus, Didiayer Snyder, West Hollywood, CA, has been presented with a certificate of recognition from the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The DETC annually recognizes outstanding graduates who have excelled as a distance education student as well as graduates having achieved a degree of celebrity within their career field and continue to make positive contributions to the community. Snyder is among 45 graduates from 37 accredited DETC member institutions to be recognized this year.

Snyder, who is currently a team designer on the Emmy Award-winning Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, is a two-time Ashworth College graduate, having received career diplomas in both Ashworth’s online carpentry and interior decorating programs. In addition to supporting several philanthropic organizations, she served as the 2009 Ashworth College Graduation keynote speaker and was presented with the Ashworth’s Alumnus of the Year Award.

"As someone who demonstrates how her online education has made positive contributions to her professional success, Didiayer is clearly a role model. We’re proud to have her as an Ashworth graduate," said Gary M. Keisling, Ashworth College Chairman and CEO.

Ashworth College and DETC also recognized Ervisa Ritt, Ft. Stewart, GA, as 2010 Outstanding Graduate. Enlisted in the U.S. Army, Stewart earned her Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently enrolled in Ashworth’s Bachelor’s Degree program.

“The most gratifying aspect of our work is reading about the success of the graduates of our accredited colleges,” said Michael P. Lambert, DETC Executive Director.

“Our success is best viewed through the lens of what has happened to our graduates -- how they put their knowledge and skills to work to make a better life…how they achieve their goals.”
