Feb. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- February is nationally recognized as Black History Month, a month dedicated to educating Americans about Black History.

Merchant Resources International would like to take this time out to recognize the various African American Small business owners of the past and the present.

One business owner that is often acknowledged for her great feats in business is Madame C.J. Walker.

Madame C.J. Walker became the first female, self-made millionaire by developing and marketing a hair care and beauty product line for black women, through her company, Madam C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company.

According to the Small Business Administration, business ownership amongst African Americans is on the rise today.  An SBA report released in 2007, states that Blacks owned 5 percent of all U.S. firms and Black-owned firms had the highest growth rate for several measures between 1997 and 2002.

Merchant Resources International invites Black-owned businesses to take advantage of the merchant cash advance, an unsecured business funding method that can provide up to $500,000 in business funds.
