(WICHITA, KS) – Sandy Randel, Program Administrator for Secondary Transition & Special Projects, at Wichita Area Technical College (WATC), recently completed certification training from Snap-On in mechanical, electronics, and hytorq. According to Troy Litrette, Snap-On District Manager, Randel is the first female in the nation to successfully complete the torque certifcation program.
WATC partnered with Snap-On in September, 2009 to become the only torque training provider in Kansas. Torgue training in the windpower industry is part of an ongoing sustainable American effort to tap renewable energy sources in the years ahead.
WATC will provide its first torque training session March 4-5. The 16-hour torgue certification course includes modules on theory, technique, mechanical torgue wrenches, electronic torgue wrenches, hydraulic torgue wrenches, torgue multipliers, and safey. Completion of this course gives participants an advantage over others who do not opt for torgue certification. These workers can go anywhere, into any industry, and immediately show that they have the skill set necessary to perform certain kinds of jobs. Torgue certification plays an important role in developing skilled technician professionals. For additional information about the class, or to enroll, individuals may contact WATC’s Learner Services office at 316-677-9400.
