Feb. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Majestic Wine, UK’s biggest and best known online wine merchants, now stocks a carefully cultivated collection of sublime red and white organic wines, produced just as nature intended.

Ethical, green, animal friendly – the sheer volume of labels and terminology associated with sustainable food and drink can be overwhelming. That’s why Majestic Wine has kept its selection of certified organic wines to a small, high quality offering selected for their sublime taste and value for money. The medley criss-crosses vineyards in both Europe and Latin America, with a red and two white wines produced in France and a rich, fruity red from the historic Corralillo vineyard in Central Chile.

Jamie McRonald, online marketing manager for Majestic said, “Organic wine is hard to make because grapes are so susceptible to attacks from animals and the weather. Consequently most farmers are reluctant to do it. Organic wines can also be more expensive because they require a lot of extra care to keep the grapes healthy. Generally the industry dismisses them as being over priced and poor quality. However, we have created a very select offering of great tasting organic wines at very affordable price. We are very careful about which organic wines we stock, we won't compromise on quality for the sake of stocking them.

“There is a growing demand for organic wine as people who are used to only buying organic meat and vegetables come to expect organic in all areas of their lives.”
Grown in harmony with nature, organic wine is the final piece in the organic puzzle, with pesticide and fungicide free grapes allowed to slowly mature on sun-soaked vineyards without chemical intervention, protection or stimulation. What organic grapes do receive is a lot of loving care to ensure the harvest remains healthy. It is this attention to detail that produces rich, delicious wines full of character and flavour.

The Corralillo Winemaker's Blend 2006 Vina Matetic, San Antonio Valley is a Majestic favourite, and was awarded the IWC 2006 Bronze Medal. Produced at the still-standing, century-old wine cellar and winery in Rosario Valley by Matetic, a blend of Merlot and Malbec grapes are cultivated in wholly organic soils and perfect topographic conditions in Chile’s Central Valley. The resultant Winemakers Blend is rich and full-bodied and has already received glowing reviews from Majestic clients.

A 2008 vintage, the Cru Classé Côtes de Provence Château Sainte Marguerite Organic Blanc hails from the seaside village of La Londe Les Maures nestled between Toulon and Saint Tropez in the south of France. Cultivated in the South’s exceptional climate and near-perfect soil, the crisp, dry white imparts atmospheric floral aromas and lively citrus fruits. This organic wine is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Also a 2008 vintage, the deliciously crisp Sauvignon de Touraine Domaine de Pontcher is from a biodynamic winery, working exclusively with organic grapes throughout the Vineyard. Priced at £6.99, the lively, fresh Gooseberry flavours promise to be an interesting addition to any mixed wine case.

The ever-popular Château Sainte Marguerite Cru Classé Organic Rouge 2008 Côtes de Provence is a medium-body red from the famous French estate. Almost Bordelais in style, but with extra depth and concentration from the Rhône varietals it mixes Grenache, Syrah or Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon for its unique flavour.
