SGS Spain Receives ASINCAR Engineering and Society Award

SGS Spain has been granted the 2009 ASINCAR Engineering and Society Award of Building Works - Environmental Performance of the U4-U5 project, undertaken as part of the Ebro River Shoreline Project by the Aragón Association of Engineering and Consulting Firms.

The Ebro River Shoreline Project aimed to improve the river’s shoreline through the city of Zaragoza by providing advantages such as new sanitary arrangements, a water supply and public lights for the residents. The entire project was divided into 14 units (U) with SGS responsible for U4 and U5 which were promoted by the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Maritime. Units 4 and 5 were related to the environmental restoration of the Ebro River banks near the city. The aim of the Ebro River Shoreline project was to ensure high quality regeneration of these river banks so they are available again for public use and enjoyment. Furthermore, a special element of this project was the construction of a pedestrian bridge which now connects Zaragoza’s neighborhoods.

SGS Spain provided Technical Assistance for the Buidling Work Management, Quality Control (http://www.sgs.com/quality_assurance_and_quality_control_...) of the building works and supervision of the work process during the Ebro River Shoreline Project. Furthermore, SGS coordinated all health and safety aspects of the construction project to protect workers on site.

For SGS Spain, it was a great achievement to be recognized for its work performance, showing once again the professionalism, quality and reliability of SGS’ work.
