Jan. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- The NYMAG Jiu-jitsu Academy is the Hudson Valley's First Black Belt BJJ School and the Source of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in the area. The NYMAG Academy was Established in the Hudson Valley in 1997 and since then, our Students have proven the effectiveness of our method in The Ring, The Streets and the Highest Levels of World Class BJJ Competition including the Pan American and World Championships of Jiu-jitsu.

A Complete Martial Art

Whether you want to compete in MMA, Submission Grappling, Sport Jiu-jitsu or Not Compete at all, Jiu-jitsu has proven itself to be the Number One Single Martial Art in the MMA arena and an Absolute Necessity for Self Defense; it has been adopted by the Military and a Large Majority of Law Enforcement Agencies. BJJ is an art that can be practiced safely on a daily basis with a reduced risk of injury.

Without Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, there would be no such thing as MMA.

The UFC was invented in 1993 by Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) practitioners to showcase their art as the best. In the first few Ultimate Fighting Competitions, BJJ easily came our dominant over all other styles. It wasn't until fighters started adding Jiu-jitsu to their training regimen that other "styles" began to win. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is the most complete  and effective single style of martial arts in the world today.

Regardless of your reason for training, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is one of the only Martial Arts that addresses all areas of fighting, including how to deal with strikes, takedowns, submissions, holds, passing the guard, the guard (fighting from your back) and escapes on the ground. All Classes are Taught by Accredited BJJ Black Belts and/or Champions of the Sport.
