Olympic Runner Trains in the Tampa Bay Area

Jan. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Tampa, Florida US - Jan 27, 2010- Three-time Olympic runner, Pierre Browne, is now training in Tampa, FL for the 2012 Olympic Games taking place in London.

The Toronto, Ontario native, who represented Canada in the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics, moved to Tampa last August and is training at the University of South Florida’s Tampa campus. “I like USF,” says Browne. “I am really appreciative that they are letting me use their track.”

Browne, who won a gold medal for the 2002 Commonwealth games, has a very strict training regimen that he believes will help him beat his personal bests in the upcoming Olympic Games. “I get up in the morning and go to the track at 9 a.m.,” says Browne. “I warm up, do drills, workout and then go to the weight room.”

For strength training, Browne trains with celebrity fitness instructor Sherrod at the famous Powerhouse Gym located in Downtown Tampa. “Powerhouse Gym provides me with the technical weight training I need to increase my core strength and flexibility,” says Browne. “This facility offers indoor cycling in oxygen pumped rooms and Woodway treadmills that can reach speeds in excess of 25 MPH,” continues Browne. “Powerhouse Gym in Downtown Tampa has it all!”

Along with training for the 2012 Olympics, Browne is also prepping for the upcoming Commonwealth Games that will take place this fall in New Delhi, India. He will be running the 100-meter dash.

Browne is excited to be training in the Tampa Bay area and even believes Tampa is the perfect place to host the next Olympics. “I think Tampa Bay is the perfect city to host an Olympic event,” says Browne. “This is a wonderful environment for athletes. Tampa is a city that could have a major influence on the world of sports in the future,” continues Browne. “I would love to be apart of making that happen here.”

Browne has high hopes for the Tampa Bay area. “Athletes will soon see what I see about Tampa and start coming here in boat loads,” comments Browne. “It will all add to the recipe of a booming Tampa Bay.”
Browne has recently signed with the Tampa based entertainment & sports marketing company, JMB Entertainment & Sports Group. Browne and JMB are currently working on establishing a public track for individuals to use free of charge. “Not everyone has that privilege; we want to build a track for anyone who wants to run or has Olympic dreams and no track to run on.”
